Heart of the Beast - A film by David Ayer
Somewhere between the rugged landscapes of Alaska and the making of Heart of the Beast, a handmade Mountain Mug from my little pottery studio in Glenorchy, New Zealand, found its way into a Hollywood film starring Brad Pitt.
It's a rather surreal moment for a small independent maker. My work has always been inspired by the natural world around me, and to see a piece of that landscape and my everyday practice travel onto the screen is something quite special.
HONEST CRAFTSMANSHIP
Working predominantly in stoneware, I design and produce small-batch ceramics that balance form and function. I'm drawn to natural and organic colours using simple and elegant glazes, evoking a quiet presence where I often leave texture to highlight natural beauty in its rawest state.
